I work in the communications fields, I know all about technology, and use it daily. I see the great advantages that this new, always connected world offers us. While growing up we had 1 phone, on the wall in the kitchen, like most others. You were not allowed to have your friends call as, with 5 kids, my parents figured, as a kid, you could wait to see them at school the next day or hey, walk over to their house, which, by the way you were usually out till the street lights came on, so why would you be home with the phone. But I digress. Yes, today is different, we have to be more careful with the kids outside due to the growing number of freaks out there. And yes, I do like being able to contact my teen daughter just to check in, as my parents had us call in when we were out.
My problem is just because you have a cell phone and or a blue tooth, does not mean you now have the right to be an ignorant ASS. Talk on the cell until you lose your voice, I don`t care, but what I do care about is that when in a store or restaurant, and the person working there, SERVING YOUR SORRY ASS is speaking to you during the transaction, GET OFF YOUR PHONE. I worked in retail as a teen, and we all know its usually crap pay working with crap customers and that was back before cell phones! But to stand there talking about nothing important to someone on the phone who isn`t even in front of you, while you are completely rude to the person you are with makes me want to scream. Can you be more Rude! More Arrogant, more self centred%&$"! If I was working there, I would put dirt in your food, or overcharge you. Yet if something affects you that you have to talk to the same staff, you can't wait one second before becoming hostile .....

Arrogance, thy name is jackassory
And then there are the people on this planet. Yes, I am staring down the barrel of 50, with that I had parents that demanded I was respectful of the human race. That I did not trample on others just to get what I wanted. You had to work to get anything, parents job was not to give their kids EVERY SINGLE THING little Johny wanted. You waited your turn you ate what you were given. There were 5 kids in our family, when in public, any one of us caused trouble ALL of us paid. We had no feeling of entitlement. Our parents went through the depression and then WWII. They lost young friend and family in the war (my Mother`s Aunt lost her husband and 3 sons, in the war) They understood what it meant to be a family, a community and a country.
Now, I am confronted daily with people who obviously were raised on some other planet. They have no respect for anyone else. Their time is much more important that the rest of us. People who are always late are in this category. Some joke, oh you know that person is always late for work, its just the way they are. Really. You talk to them and guess what, they weren`t sitting at home or slept in, oh, they had to do this and do that and go here and there.....So obviously, being at work was very low on their list of things to do. They need the time to go shopping, or drive people somewhere, and since they and their time are more important than everyone else, including the poor sods who show up for work on time and have to wait to Johnny-come-lately shows up to finish their task, they see no need to care the impact on others. They respect no one else. Yet, delay responding to them, don`t answer their email in the second you get it, and you are a bad manager.

Traffic-jackassory
So, lets start with jackassory in traffic. OK people, driving is a privilege not a right. So, there are basic rules that have to be followed, as well as, dare I say it, common sense. Putting your signal on in a lane, changing lanes and then taking the signal off is fine, but it does not give you the pay it forward attitude to now change lanes, cutting me off with no signal! And all of you U turn people who do this at intersections, guess what people, I'm sorry you were too stupid to know where you where going or whatever, but go forward then find a safe place to turn off and turn around not in traffic. I know you think your time is more important that everyone else's, but guess what ....its not. Unless you discovered the cure for cancer, you are just as important as everyone else, and in society, we follow rules.

Day 1 Jackassory is afoot
Yes, I said it, jackassory is everywhere. Between people you work with, the other drivers on the road and the general population in every other area of your life, jackassory is rampant in our world. So, what to do...
